Tektro CR510 Cantilever brake review

I searched all over the internet to find the best-looking silver cantilever brakes and the Tektro CR510 is my favorite.  These are replacing the black Tektro CR720 brakes that I was using.  The 720 brakes worked well,  but I wanted silver and I think the 510 have a better look for my mostly road bike build.  Here are the brakes installed:

Tektro CR510 Cantilever Brakes

Specs

Forged aluminum arms

Silver or black anodized finish

144 grams per Tektro, I didn’t weigh mine

Installation

I found these to be easy to install.  I followed these instructions:

I used a Tektro straddle cable with a Dia-Compe bridge for a more old school look.

Performance

I am quite happy with the braking performance.  With a good pull on the brake levers they can really stop.  Just using the stock pads that came with the levers.

Look

I’m really happy with how they look on my bike.  My components are mostly silver, so they fit the bike well and I just like the design.  The fit and finish is very nice with these.  Here are some more pics:

Rating

I give these 5 out of 5 stars.  They completely meet my expectations, and the pricing is quite fair.  You can usually find these on Ebay for about $20.
