1982 Schwinn Continental Bike Black Sable

Here is a nice example of a 1982 Schwinn Continental, a really durable and reliable road bike:

This bike came with a Schwinn electro-forged carbon-steel frame and 10 speeds.  Not a light bike at 36lbs, but reliable and durable.  Black sable is the only color for this year.  Came with center pull brakes and quick release front wheel.  Here is the catalog page:

318 28”

This would have been one of the last bikes made in Chicago by Schwinn before the plant was closed.

Suggested retail price was $222.95

Saddle: Schwinn Approved Confort-Form Racing Style Saddle

Crankset: Schwinn Forged Steel diamond style heat treated with 52 and 39 tooth chainwheels

Freewheel: Schwinn Approved 14-17-20-24-28 tooth cogs

Hubs: Schwinn Approved large flange

Rear derailleur: Schwinn Approved GT510(made by Huret I believe)

Front derailleur: Schwinn Approved GT290(made by Huret I believe)

Shift levers: Schwinn built twin stik stem mounted

Brakes: Schwinn Approved alloy center pull with extension levers

Rims: Schwinn chrome plated steel 27 x 1 ¼”

Accessories: built in kickstand
