I’ve been using my Planet Bike STX pump for quite a few months now and really like it. First, it’s a bit taller than my old pump and this makes a dramatic difference for my back when I’m pumping up all the families’ bikes. The auto head seems to have some sort of magic and works great with Presta and Scrader. Large steel base does a great job stabilizing the pump on the ground. I also like the long hose which comes in handy trying to pump up a tire when the bike is in the repair stand.

I love this pump so I’m going to give it 5 out of 5 stars. It’s about $40 on Amazon and at that price I think it’s a super deal. It really looks and performs like a much more expensive pump.

About Planet Bike
Great Wisconsin company based in Madison. They offer a lot of great parts and accessories at reasonable prices for every bike. I will definitely buy more of their products.

Planet Bike is a pretty good company. Decent stuff at decent prices. A wide range of accessories under one roof. (I’ve had lights, seat packs, bottle cages, handlebar tape from them. I really like the stainless steel cages.) As for “frugal”, it depends. I’m still using the Silca floor pump I bought 50 years ago. It wasn’t cheap, but I have been able to replace parts (rubber seals, eventually the gauge and hose) over the years. I bought an expensive bike. I justified it to myself by saying that, amortized over 20 years, it wasn’t that expensive. 35 years later, it’s really not expensive. It might outlast me.

What I really need is a tyre that doesn’t go down. 🤓
