I’m excited to get some images for this bike, these were really popular in southeastern WI so it’s nice to see one again. When I was a kid, we would start on BMX bikes and then move up to the 10 speed, and the Varsity seemed to be the most popular choice, probably because it was more affordable and well-built. The Schwinn catalog claims it’s the best-selling full-size 10 speed in the USA. I think this would be one of the last bikes made at the nearby Chicago plant. This example is a size 22” Sky Blue:

Here are some of the features:
Solid forged steel stem and crankset
Chrome plated steel chainrings
Side-pull caliper brakes
Tubular steel rims
Heavy duty integrated kickstand
10 speeds
Electro-forged frame
Schwinn gumwall puff tires
Men’s sizes:
120 20”
122 22”
124 24”
126 26”
Women’s sizes:
167 17”
170 20”

I’d ride the heck out of that thing! I do remember these being very popular. My neighbor boy had one. I was totes peanut butter & jealous.
A real reliable bike.
