Velocity A23 Road Wheelset Silver Miche Hubs Review

Last Updated on July 6, 2022 by FAB Jim The Cyclist

I decided I wanted to finally try tubeless with my Surly, so I needed to find some silver tubeless compatible rims.  I found the best selection of silver road wheels at Velomine.  My Surly ended up being a not Shimano bike so I decided on a wheelset with made in USA Velocity A23 rims, made in Switzerland DT spokes, and made in Italy Miche Primato hubs.  Velomine answered all my questions, and these rims have a lot of cool factor.  Check them out:

These are some great looking wheels and much lighter than the ones I’m using now.  Miche quick releases are also nice.  I need to prep these for tubeless and mount my tires still.

I will update this post after I get my tires mounted and after getting some miles on.

  1. I second the recommendation of the Velocity A-23. They are taking me coast-to-coast (again). They make an asymmetrical rear rim to reduce the dish and forces on the drive-side spokes.

      1. Yes to asymmetrical rear. Hubs are DT Swiss carbon ceramic (because they were on sale and sounded good from description and reviews). Rims were my wheel builder’s recommendation. Spoking pattern was my suggestion and he agreed.
